Como cada año, uno de los actos centrales de la GDC 2010 fue la celebración de la gala de los Game Developers Choice Awards, un evento en el que se premian a los mejores juegos del año anterior y que son votados por los propios desarrolladores, con lo cual cuentan con cierto valor añadido, pues son los propios creadores los que valoran qué juegos han sido los mejores. En la edición del 2010 el gran triunfador ha sido Uncharted 2: El Reino de los Ladrones, el título de Naughty Dog para PlayStation 3 que ganó el premio a mejor juego del año, mejor guión, mejor tecnología, mejor arte visual y mejor audio, es decir, casi todos los premios a los que optaba salvo el de mejor diseño que cayó en manos de Batman: Arkham Asylum. El premio a juego más innovador fue a manos de 5th Cell y su genial Scribblenauts, mientras que el mejor juego descargable fue para thatgamecompany y su peculiar Flower.
